Pros: Win7 install took just 10 minutes. Fast 35 second boot for Win7 compared to my old Raptor 36GB HDD that took 1 minute. Cons: None as yet Other Thoughts: Very good HDD ... I highly reccommend it | Review By: on 2010-06-21 This user purchased this item at 2010-05-24
Pros: Small, silent, FAST. OCZ forums are probably the best source of support on the internet for SSD drives. Cons: Unless you are installing Windows 7 from scratch, setup will be difficult. These are not just quick hard disks. Read up before you buy. No mounting hardware included. Other Thoughts: I wouldn't bother buying a SSD drive unless you've got a newish mobo and are running Windows 7. | Review By: Tommo on 2010-06-17 This user purchased this item at 2010-05-18 OCZ VERTEX - you little ripper! Pros: Works just like a normal drive but much much faster. Windows was loading and ready to go for me in under 30 seconds from start up! Cons: Does not come with a drive bay for install in to standard HDD bays. Other Thoughts: Never used one of these before. I wonder how long it will last and if there will be any warning before the drive completely fails? | Review By: Neo on 2010-06-06 This user purchased this item at 2009-10-26 Unrivalled Performance Pros: Non-existent random seek times => Boot to desktop in less than 15 seconds, Applications loading just as you finish clicking on the icons, Instant real-time search results on Windows 7 start menu search Cons: Requires Maintenance to maintain performance
1) Idle time at logon screen (with sleep and turn off hard disk disabled) for the onboard controller to do garbage collection
2) Most RAID controllers doesn't convey to Windows (yet) that SSDs are present so Windows will not activate TRIM automatically. Which means you need to periodically TRIM the RAID array manually using PerfectDisk and AS Cleaner (Free space cleaner) as mentioned in the OCZ forums. Intel is working on enabling this support in their latest Rapid Storage Technology driver even as I write this, so wouldn't be too far away. Other Thoughts: Worth the money in upgrade. I knew that conventional Hard Disks were the bottleneck in my system previously, but I couldn't believe the performance increase until I experienced it myself. OCZ also has an outstanding support and warranty service. One of my disks played up and they got me a replacement in 3 days. OCZ service for the win! | Review By: on 2010-05-13 This user purchased this item at 2010-04-08 OCZ- SSD Pros: *increased speed
*less heat
*less noise Cons: *non at the moment Other Thoughts: Bought to check what the hype about SSD is all about and got pleasantly surprised. | Review By: huffyrox on 2010-02-24 This user purchased this item at 2010-02-09 Fast Pros: Set 3 of these up in RAID0, getting ~550MB/sec read speeds. Great drive

breakthroughs in SSD technology. The Mac Edition delivers the incredible
performance enthusiasts have come to expect from OCZ’s premium Solid State
Drive offerings with the peace of mind knowing they are tested in Apple’s
own labs. Additionally, the drives feature speeds up to blazing 240MB/s
sequential read and 170MB/s sequential write and 64MB onboard cache, while
delivering extended battery life, increased system responsiveness, and
superior durability compared to conventional hard drives.
Offering your system the incredible performance of flash-based technology,
The OCZ Vertex Series delivers the performance and reliability of SSDs at
less price per gigabyte than other high speed offerings currently on the
market. The OCZ Vertex Series is the result of all the latest
breakthroughs in SSD technology, including new architecture and controller
design, blazing read/write speeds, and 64MB of onboard cache. OCZ
continues to place solid state technology within reach of the average
consumer, and delivers on the promise of SSDs as an alternative to
traditional hard drives in consumer targeted mobile applications.
Perfect for notebooks and desktops alike, the Vertex Series is ideal for
energy-efficient mobile computing to extend battery life, increase the
speed of access time, and provide a durable alternative to conventional
hard disc drives with superior shock resistance. High capacities and low
power consuming NAND flash technology provide the necessary performance
and battery life boosts generated by the proliferation of mobile gaming
and new ultra-thin laptops. With fast access and seek times combined with
excellent reliability, the OCZ Vertex Series SSDs are the answer for
consumers demanding this latest storage technology.
The OCZ Vertex drives feature a durable yet lightweight alloy housing, and
because OCZ SSDs have no moving parts, the drives are more rugged than
traditional hard drives. Designed for ultimate reliability, Vertex Series
SSDs have an excellent 1.5 million hour mean time before failure (MTBF)
ensuring peace of mind over the long term.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Solid State Drives DO NOT require
defragmentation. It may decrease the lifespan of the drive.
IMPORTANT NOTE: To continually improve and optimize the Vertex SSD for the
latest platforms OCZ will constantly release new firmware updates.

*Consumers may see a discrepancy between reported capacity and actual
capacity; the storage industry standard is to display capacity in decimal.
However, the operating system usually calculates capacity in binary
format, causing traditional HDD and SSD to show a lower capacity in
Windows. In the case of SSDs, some of the capacity is reserved for
formatting and redundancy for wear leveling. These reserved areas on an
SSD may occupy up to 5% of the drive’s storage capacity. On the Vertex
Series the naming convention reflects this and the 30 is equivalent to
32GB, the 60 is equivalent to the 64GB and so on.
**Rated speeds are based on the Intel P45 chipset, speeds may vary
slightly dependent on the benchmark used, drivers, windows version, bios
version and file size. We recommend using ATTO and PC Mark Vantage for
benchmarking SSDs. | Important Note: Product information is drawn from suppliers and manufacturers.
